Should Design Agencies Employ Social Media?

This is a question I have been debating for a little while, I would love to hear your thoughts on this.


I work as a Creative Freelance Designer and wanted to use social media notably Instagram and Dribbble to sell my business to potential customers. The issue here is, do I want to focus on posting with little to no effect or should I focus on a locally based advertising like in local publications.

I have worked out the pros and cons in a list here:

Pros:
  • Its Free and can be scheduled
  • I can reach a global audience
  • I can use the social profiles as portfolios
Cons:
  • Can be a long wait with lots of testing to get a good campaign going
  • Time-consuming
  • may not build a local base
What are your comments?
 
Everyone should use social media because social media is where the traffic is at. Sure it's time consuming, but it could be very rewarding eventually.
 
Yes, many perspective clients will perform due diligence on your company and services by scanning the social media platforms.
