All you have to do is keep running your mouth - and let probability run its course. However, the further you are from people who would likely harm you lowers it - as you'd expect.

Based on what I've seen on there, I'm surprised a lot of people haven't' met the same fate.

That's a country that has a major drug syndicate problem though. I think that's an extreme example of what happens when you talk trash on social media. The average person isn't going to suffer that kind of fate unless they're already in a heated feud with someone else. Even then - it's unlikely.

I know some prime candidates for that stuff, but they are too far away from their enemies.

Once there was a guy who was talking trash about a boxer on twitter - and that boxer later tracked him down on twitter and made a personal appearance at the guys house. I don't think any violence broke out but the trash-talker was quite surprised when he opened the door that day.

I think it's a matter of probability. At some point, the insulting is so much that there has to be a reaction, even if your 10,000 miles away from enemies - or just people you make fun of all the time. Note, though, I am often speaking of "general cultural or racial" insults - like constant memes that dumb African Americans wear low pants etc..

It depends. Some people don't take social media as seriously as others do. Of course - not every troll is created equal either. Some get under folks skin far worse than their counterparts do. But to employ your official social media account to take shots at a drug boss in Mexico, who lives one town over from you, is a top 3 in terms of really dumb ideas.

You really do have to be careful with what you say, especially in some of these countries and it just shows the social media isn't the parallel universe that some consider it to be.

What's dangerous for me is the reality that is happening to most of the women here who are working abroad. They fall prey to scheming men. Most of those women are married but they get a boyfriend in social media that later on they will be sending nude pictures and videos to that boyfriend. What happens next? The social media boyfriend would blackmail them in exchange of money. There are many cases like that and some women have resorted to complaining on a tv program that helps those Filipinos who are working abroad. Isn't it extreme danger for gullible women?

That's horrible that would happen, but at least many women look similar - so that it might be difficult to shame someone. However, before the internet, it was probably easier.
