Stages of a project - Your Opinion?

So I'm wondering what are all possible stages of a project?

I think "Just Started working on it", Beta and finally launch?

Or are there more phases in between before launch?

Here it is:

BluePrint Ready - you got a project idea in your head and got the basic thing worked out for this project

In Development - you started working on this project as in getting a forum set up, descriptions writen,

In Beta - You share the forum the project with some people to test out its functionality and if there are any flaws in it

Launch of Project - you launch the forum to everyone by promoting it on some forums.

Well I don't know the "official stages" but to me it goes like this:


Brainstorming - Great Idea
Branching the idea out to include more features
The start of developing the idea, design/images
Coding the idea's basic template and features
fixing any bugs it may have
more design work and coding
more bug squashing
More coding
Release a beta version once I am happy with the progress

Develop things from there based on members feedback and squashing more bugs if any have been found.

Public full release.

Jolting down ideas - brainstorming
Research on financial and other factors in play
design the overall idea in sketches
write pilot content and ideas
design a more detailed skull of the place
write down the basic code for it.
Acquire the tools to start in the computer.
Code and build slowly
once the basic works start pretty it up
add the graphic side of it
polish, make sure it works fine, etc
invite a few to give you feedback.
make some content
Launch and advertise

something like that. I have no definitive way of doing things but that is what happened with my place.

idea followed by self propelled crash course in whatever i need that i dont already know, followed by surgical attachment to my machine and lots of bad language, ending with a rough foundation to be polished and built upon after i recover and start functioning again
