The state of Virginia has a plan to remove all advanced math classes up until 11th grade and have the claim that it is in the name of equity.

What do you think about this plan?

As someone who was always very good in math I am horrified that they would slow down learning for some kids in this manner. I was always encouraged to work through school books at a fast rate if I could handle it and it kept me from being bored in class.

IMO, they are dumbing down our society. Some people are good at math & should be able to take advance courses. If they are stuck in beginner classes, they won't live up to their full potential, be bored, not challenged.
I always tell people I believe in Equal not More rights. This is not equality but rather the less advanced students have MORE rights.
These same kids won't learn hard work. Getting stars for participating is making them, what's a good term, crybabies? The real world doesn't work that way.

I have to agree with ZandraJoi on this one, it makes no sense to do this from the start and it will certainly not effect equity.

Everyone should be allowed to achieve their highest potential possible and useless Virginia does not allow different genders or races into advanced education classes, then I have no idea who is benefiting from this.

I don’t believe removing advanced classes is a good idea. Things like that just dumb down society and make people dependent on thinks they shouldn’t have too.
