Since all forum software is on the rise, I don't know how to choose, I guess most forum softwares have something good about them.

phpBB3 is by far the best FREE software. It is so versatile and amazing!

But if you do not mind paying for software, I would use XenForo. It has a nice feeling to it. The only downside to it-is that there are not that many modifications for it yet so you have to do with what it has.

Paid; Vbullentin
Free; phpBB of course!

The only reason I have to disagree with your paid is because of what they did with vB 4.0.

vBulletin 4 is the best version they've done.

I have to disagree with you on that. The 3.8.X versions were much better.

I have to unagree and say that 3.8 was a bit meh in feature wise.

The features were a lot better then they are now. Everything is destroyed now.

I would love to buy vBulletin.

Go and buy it, Make the worst decision in your forum life 😉

xenForo is the only forum software I ever want to purchase again and that's my 3rd license btw.

I would rather end up with a mental disorder than use XenForo.

Each to their own, Vbulletin is a real peice of s!?! though.

If you're looking for something completely free, ZB is definitely the way to go if you ask me. A lot of people say they dun like it, I really don't understand why.

However, if you have a few bucks to spare, XF is the way the go.

Ive been foruming for 5 years and used many popular free and paid softwares live on my forums. All of them have their upsides and downsides. Im pretty happy with IPB at the moment.
