I've used Toshiba Satellite line laptops from 2005 until 2013. (I started with an M40, switched to an A100 then an M300.) The only reason I upgraded was to get better specs and to give my family members another laptop.

When I got my M300 in 2008 I stuck with it until mid December 2013 when the inverter in the screen started to die.
Everything else on the laptop worked fine, but I just didn't want to spend $150 to fix it when I was already looking to buy new anyway.

I ended up buying an Asus G750JW... which I've had since January. And I must say this Asus laptop is quite powerful. I like that the vents are on the back (keeps the system cooler and quieter for me. I mean even at full load the system doesn't get very loud at all.)
The only thing that gets loud on this laptop is the speakers... I have to keep them under 10% volume or else they're just too loud for me. (Or at/under 5% volume if I use headphones.)

Would I go back to Toshiba? If the specifications were right... Maybe. (Certainly not right now. Not for the next 3-4 years at least.)
Though I will say that I've bought another Asus product (a wireless AC router) and it's impressed me so perhaps I might stick with Asus for a while afterall.

Why isn't there an apple option? These are in my opinion still the laptops with the longest durability. Especially the macbook air.

Happy to know, I am with the majority, Dell is my favorite, I have been using it for more than 6 years.

For me, the best laptop is the one that works best for me and in my case it’s Lenovo. I’m surprised that it wasn’t rated as one of the best laptop brands in this poll. Long life battery, silent and fast processing.

I am torn between MSI and Asus. Though no MSI on the poll so I voted Asus. MSI has made some pretty good laptops with higher specs and large storage capacity. Great to have two HDD's for that extra space when you are out and about.

I think Razer's Blade is the best laptop.
(I know this is a older post, but..)
While they are great in specs & have Razer grade keyboards built in (major plus for gaming) I have heard they die easy. I have seen a few people say on YouTube videos upon traveling (possibly the heavy bumping of luggage) internal connectors have popped lose. No powering up afterwards or no monitor powered. At least this is what a few people have said via YouTube videos I have seen.

*Shrugs* By now Razer could have sorted this issue, because it has been a good while since I checked up on them. Though, only putting a heads up on it.

Asus, Dell, and Sony are all good laptops.

Macbooks are obviously near the top (if not at the top) but the fact that they cost 2 to 3 times as much is a big factor for me.

How about MSI? There better then most of the casual brands!

Project Novena is probably the best opensource laptop where the hardware, software, and design is open source, so it is easier to modify, fix, and upgrade.

Novena is also very unique, so it is not like all the other generic laptops which are currently out, so it could be a good laptop for someone who wants a laptop which is different from other laptops people own.

Although, Novena is not very fast, but should be good enough for a lot of office tasks, and the prices for the different models are very expensive.

I think self-built laptops like Project Novena could be the future of laptops for more tech-savvy computer users who want to save money because building a laptop with better specs could be cheaper compared to pre-assembled laptops made by Dell where Dell needs to make a profit on each laptop to pay for assembly, shipping, and advertising.

I prefer Toshiba. I had a mac once but it was horribly expensive and wasn't too fantastic..

I like HP. My first ever laptop was an HP and it's been working great for a few years now. It's very stable and durable, and I haven't noticed much deterioration over that years. I use it a lot too. It's been able to keep up just fine. I would definitely consider HP again when it's time for a new computer.

I vote dell. I think their laptops are durable and they offer a good after sales service which is very important for me.

iBUYPOWER. They are a company that builds custom gaming Desktop PCs and Laptops. They are the first company that comes to mind when I think custom built, but if I had to choose as an option, I would always choose Custom Built.
The reason I'm not a fan of Macs, is because I'm a PC Gamer. And Yeah. I prefer Custom Builds. Macs are good for video editing as I use Final Cut Pro in my Film Prodcution Class, and I prefer that over Sony Vegas haha.
