Before the bottled water became popular here, some businessmen said that bottled water is not a good business since only the rich are buying. But now, even the poor people drink bottled water. That puzzles not just me but even my sociologist niece. She said that bottled water costs as much as soda and people should be buying soda instead of water.
Never heard of anyone think you should be buying soda over water before, as most people don't need to be told that water is actually much better for you than soda. Unless ofcourse you live in a place where fresh water is dirty, then I understand why buying strictly bottled water is around the same price as some soda. Even then, you can buy gallons of water cheaper than bottled water.
Where I live, it is actually far cheaper (and cleaner), to get water from the tap. All of the water that we get in the tap, is clean fresh water, and it is priced $1 per 1,000 gallons.
Some places don't have clean water - but before the rise in population, modernization, water everywhere, assuming they're wasn't too many farm animals in it, was clean. Anyway, all sorts of nations now use mostly bottled water. In fact, the US is one of the few that doesn't, but that water could also be up for scrutiny (too much chlorine, who knows what's dumped in it).
Well first of all, if you have a good water filtration unit like BRITA or ZERO-WATER... you can pour water straight from the tap in your house. That water, for example here in NYC? Is quite good. The water filtration unit separates the few 'unwanteds' and produces 100% clear, and clean water for you to drink. You just need to change the filtration pitcher filter every month I believe. Filters can be bought at your local Walgreens or cvs in a pack of 3 or 4. I buy bottled water to take with me some places and when I buy it, I usually buy in packs of 20 or more. So I don't run out too fast. Mostly in the summer.
I used to buy bottled water 5 years in a row since I moved with my family from parents, but my friend explained me how much money I can save by installing a filtration system in my house. Main problem of bottled water is that a lot of brands sell water with a higher price than it should be and that's a reason why I changed my opinion about it. Few months ago osmo water purifier made its appearance in my city, they started to offer home delivery service where they choose the best osmosis system model for you. First time I visited osmosis water website I was puzzled with all the information about osmotic pressure and osmosis membranes but after few minutes I found out that osmo water purifier is really easy to use and osmosis membrane removes bacteria, parasites, calcium, magnesium salts (hardness), iron, lead (heavy metals) and chlorine. For me osmosis system was like a new world to explore since bottled water brands are not very specific about what exactly is inside water that they sell. I think water filter is better than the bottled water and it's cheaper!
There's some bottled water here that you can get for $2 a case. My hubby and I usually have several cases of it on hand because we drink so much of it. Drinking water is healthier for you than drinking anything else.
