Do you have good luck getting traffic from advertising in your signature in a lot of forums?

depends but not very good amount. Yes I do get traffic from it but not anyone joining from it.

Depending on what you put in your signature is depending if it might be what someone is currently looking for, for me its hit and miss but it does work in your favor with SEO as a backlink if the website rank and pr is quite high for search authority.

They bring in traffic but they are mostly inorganic in nature. But advertising on market forums do help to generate leads for your business.

Even though profile links are not much of value these days, active forums can bring you traffic however if you are engage in the conversation as well.

Only a handful of visits seem to come from signature links. Overall, it is a very small amount.

I haven't had much luck from forum signatures, but every now and then it did bring a few members to my previous forum.

I am really questioning about this issue too, since for SEO manager, we mainly put backlinks in the signature to increase the authority of website rather than attracting more traffic to our website. Everything takes time, so we could not expect a high result since the beginning.
If you truly desperately want a high quality and organic traffic by using signature, you should write extremely good content (and it has to be relevant with your service/product) on other websites. If people actually care, they will actively look for you. That is the point of SEO marketing.
The method you mentioned called Guest post, another kind of link building (Forum signature is one of them too)

No luck at all, there's all no-follow anyways and competing forums dont allow you to advertise so it's terribly hard
