Info Unsolicited Password Reset Email from Forum Promotion - It's not us

Last night, one of my email accounts received an email as screenshot below. It's set up to look as if it comes from our site Forum Promotion, but look closely and you'll see that it's from a copycat site called forum-promotion with a hyphen. This email was NOT sent out by us, so please do not reset your password.

Because they're trying to make it look as if it's from us, you can Report this as Phishing by clicking on the 3 dots if you have a gmail email. Let Google handle it from there.

If you haven't done it yet, I think this would warrant a mass email to warn members.

Maybe a notice at the top of the forum also. And give some details on what you should see when you get an email from FP. If you mouse over most links in emails, it will tell you where it points too.

The footer of the forum say's it is for Satire purposes...not sure what's satirical about it. Other than someone thinks they're funny.

It's more than likely a disgruntled former member thinking they're clever, but we cannot, at this point in time, confirm or deny that speculation. If it is, this is just pathetic. Even if it's not, this is quite pathetic.

The unsolicited email should provide enough information to work out who is behind this i.e. all the members here who have received the email will have signed up to the same database/forum.

I sign up on every forum with a unique username and have been doing so since, well, since a former member created a fake FP site years ago and had imported my data from a different forum to make it look like I was active on that fake FP.

Since I now use a unique username each time I sign up and keep all my data in a spreadsheet, I can see which sites are sending me emails.

I literally have this fake forum opened in another tab and was getting ready to bring it up here. I came across it on Admininstrata and the guy was being smart to AWS over there when he brought it up that it's unethical to steal content from someone else's community.

It's incredible that people don't know what plagiarism is. Most hosts won't tolerate these criminal acts.
