A woman in the US state of Idaho has been killed after her two-year-old son accidentally shot her with a gun he found when reaching into her handbag.

The woman, named by the local sheriff's office as Veronica J Rutledge, 29, was shot in a Wal-Mart in Hayden, a town in Idaho's northern panhandle.

She had been shopping with several children at the time, a spokesman for the office said.

Even though it is a nice idea to have a gun on you when you have a concealed weapons permit to allow you to do such, I would have not left the item that it is in, in reaching of a 2 year old.

I am sorry for her death, even more because she now is leaving young children behind.

It is sad to hear about her death and even more so about the fact that her children will grow up from a young age with no mother. But at the same time, it's a warning to other people.

This was quite disturbing when I found out about it, and how easy it was for the child to do this, the mother should have been more protective and careful with the weapon.

I feel sorry for her and RIP. But it was her fault she had the gun and should of known to be more protective. This is one reason why nobody should have a gun. I hope this child doesn't turn out to be a gangster or a murder because of this.

I very much doubt that this will influence the two year old's future. The only bad thing is that it will probably scar him deep-down in his memories.

You do know bats kill more people than guns. Should we not be allowed to have bats?

It's different over there so how should I know?

That's interesting, can you show me the source from where you found that from?
