Question – can you leave home without your phone or tablet? That was asked in a survey of high school and college students. As expected, more than 95% said no. That they will go back to their home to get their gadget. That’s how we are dependent on technology. Another question is how long can you stay away from the internet. Your guess is as good as mine. Truly the younger generation are becoming slaves to technology.

Yes. The fact that selfie related death has increased by almost a 100 times are a testimony to this 🙁

I do agree to an point, but I say that people make themselves to get into it and doesn't stop

A lot of people are dependent on Internet, social media, and their Iphones. I however can go days without it.

But on the other hand this is part of the evolution.
what will 100 years time be like
I wouldn't be too optimistic.

Our ancestors evolved to survive on planet earth. It took millions of years of evolution to get to our multicellular state, millions more to get to primates, and thousands more to become modern humans from archaic humans. It's a precious gift from nature that doesn't always get the attention it deserves.

While not much will change in 100 years, I suppose the next thousand years could bring in changes through evolution. Some have proposed we might gain larger eyes, lose or gain melanin based on climate change, and a variety of other changes. Technology-related evolution, if it happens, won't be as beneficial to us as adapting to the environment was to us in the past.

I agree with you. But technology also gives us many opportunities. This applies to various spheres, including medicine.there was no technique for determining many diseases 100 years ago. But... how people use all these possibilities of technology?

Having grown up in the 80s, I remember how it was before even mainstream analog cell phones came out. These days I think, "how did we even survive without a small phone/computer in our hands?" Yet, we did survive. We have definitely become extremely dependent on these small devices and other technology, but if it was necessary, we could survive without it.

I for one welcome our AI Overlords (as-long as it's *my* AI Overlords, ahaha).

My lovely computer talks to me every night, whispers lovely words like "Unhandled System Exception", and tells me that I'm an idiot almost every-time I run my program after changing something. It's beautiful, sweet perfection.

For instance, it may tell me that I'm an idiot for dereferencing a pointer which doesn't exist or for having a variable I don't use. Especially reflection, o reflection, why do you have to be so annoying.

Technology is obviously extremely beneficial for me, but I do find some people end up sinking too much time in trivial things like watching cat videos, browse Facebook, etc. and not as much on something more... Productive.

As more people work online or have important contacts or business deals that are struck via digital communications and signage, we simply cannot afford to be out and about without our handheld devices.

I have to agree on that bitter reality. A rate of 99% of all jobs in the world use technology in one way or another. Even farmers now use it to look for innovative ways to increase their production and profit. We don't have a choice but to embrace it. We just need to use technology in a good way. That's the main thing we must care now.

I wouldn't say that we are becoming slaves of technology but rather say technology is becoming our slaves. Technology allows us to do so many things easily and this has basically been integrated into our lifes. I once went on a cruise and I didn't have any internet and I was able to not use any technology for 5 days. I watched a bit of TV but that was about it.

Habits are bad. For instance, I spend too much time on a computer, not enough exercising.
