What Are Your Thoughts On Furries & Bronies?(Lol.)

So what are your thoughts on these Fandoms that have been around for a few decades now? Personally, I don't see anything wrong with them(Except for Bronies. They need help).

Bronies are literally grown Men watching My Little Pony(Fun Fact: I once heard on the internet that the founder of Valve, Gabe Newell is a Brony. I don't think it's true though).

Furries, I used to hate but after watching videos about them, my opinion has changed on them. They're just people who have interests in Anthropomorphic-Animals(Animals with Human-Features) and like to dress up in Fursuits.

Again, what are your opinions on these people?

Well, to be frank, a huge movement in the cultural right is calling men pansies lol - aka "snowflakes". In that case, of course, there is a lot of resentment against - what are seen as "freaks" - along with the other people the CR resents - as mentioned in my thread on the disabled (as a reply).

Myself, I think, generally, if something "floats your boat" and isn't hurting anyone - then it's not a big deal.

Furries are a little strange, but I have respect for the suits they create. Very impressive. My problem comes when they act inappropriately in public, such as Rainfurrest 2015. No need to get into detail, but I also don't appreciate the 'cub' sub-culture, which I equate with pedophilia. If people want to pretend they're animals and wear intricately-detailed fursuits, that's fine. Just don't be gross...

Bronies are another story. Back when the current iteration of MLP first came out, I watched the whole first season and loved it. It was a cute show! Then the Bronies came, and they took everything good and pure about those ponies and the show's message and destroyed it. Everything became sexual, which is disgusting because now when little kids google "Applejack" or "Fluttershy" or really any of the other characters, they get filth. It's a kid's show ffs! The things I've seen... To put my opinion bluntly, Bronies are man-children who need to grow up and find more age-appropriate interests, and probably see a therapist.

Liking something meant for kids = ok. Turning something meant for kids into a nasty sexual fantasy and posting such images in places where kids will find them = not ok.

That's just common in porn nowadays. There's no way to stop it - and no cartoon hasn't been touched!

I have to agree on that one. Even kid-friendly stuff has to be ruined. There’s no stopping it and there’s no law that prohibits it.

I'm not sure if there is any out there. Parents of course, can have their ISP(Virgin Media, Sky, BT etc.) have parental-controls set on them. But if a tech-savvy child were to find out about something like Tor and how it keeps you anonymous then the blocker is going to be useless.

You don't need Onion routing for that, just use a VPN lol Here in the states, I don't think you can just call up your ISP and have them block certain categories or sites. That can be done through the hosts file, software, router level black listing and other options. But you're right, if someone wants to access a certain site or category of site, it stupid easy to get around it.

I find furries in general to be obnoxious man babies. There is a reason why the internet persecuted them for years. It is okay to have a love for anthromorphic animals, that's not the part that bothers me. No fandom is bad in it's own right. BUT... some furries think that they actually do have animal characteristics for real and identify as a fox, cat or rabbit. They think that they deserve some recognition for that and I'm like "No, it's a fantasy." It's okay to have fantasies, but don't expect everyone else to play into it. Fursonas are not a sexuality and don't deserve recognition beyond what they are.

On our old forum, there used to be North American meetups at conventions back in the 00s. I was told that this one guy had a dog collar on, fox ears and a tail. The only furry in the group. He made an underage girl lead him around on a leash for the entire event. The admins at the time fired him from his moderator position for inappropriate behaviour. It was really fkn weird. I can't condone that.

To be honest, the extremes of both fandoms need help. I don't think one is any better than the other. Some "bronies" are simply adults who like MLP. I knew a few online. They weren't sexualising it, they just liked the show.

Yes, I do agree that sexualising innocent things like MLP is a bit over-board and creepy.

Society of course, looks down on things like pedophilia. But love to tease, shame and criticise people in fandoms like the Furry Fandom or Brony Fandom without doing any actual research into them. I've done research on the Furry Fandom even though I never planned to, starting with a recommended video on Youtube by Anthony(Anthony from Smosh) spending time with Furries. I then investigated more and more. Then, I realised that Furries are normal people and not everyone in the Fandom are creeps and weirdos. They're just people trying to enjoy drawing and cosplaying as Anthroporphic Animals. And I've now stopped hating on Furries ever since.

If people actually did research into the Fandoms then all of this hate would stop. Instead people only rely on the news and whatever the news say, people believe. Earth is filled with fake news and the next thing you know, a riot breaks out because of the fake news.

Lol. That's true. I just like to hear what other people think about this kind of stuff and what needs to be done about them. And besides, we can't really stop any weird stuff. These things have been set-in-stone and will stay that way until someone decides to come in and crash the party.
