What do you call PM’s?

Private or Personal Messages? I call them Private Messages. Some are adamant that they are called Personal. While others use the term DM for Direct Message. What do you call them?

Private because unlike public posts, PM's are only viewable by the participants.

People say how it is though don't they, I tend to call it "Personal Messages" then at times I said both memes it almost means the same anyway at the end of the day. Means the same and people understand what both means. Private means more to people at an older age I would say.

I thought when they first came out that they were Private Messages apart from what showed Publicly on forums? That's why I call them Private Messages.

I still call them PM’s even though XenForo doesn’t call them that. Old school term that I can’t let go of. 😛

I've always called them PMs. That's what they were way back when haha. I call it PM on social media, too. LOL

I just abbreviate it to PMs myself. However when I'm talking about my forums in real life, I say private message or just simply message.

I think Direct Message is more appropriate for member-to-member messages sent privately.

I have always called them Private Messages if I am honest but I have known people to call them personal messages. I also know that some people call them DMs as well for direct messages, I guess it varies by each person and what they have always known them by. Right from the start of me using forums I always knew them as PMs or private messages and that is what I am used to.
