The web hosting industry recently faced one of its most significant security challenges I have ever seen. A critical authentication bypass exploit in cPanel caused problems through the internet, forcing hosting providers globally into a race against time to secure their infrastructure. And i saw two groups in this situation, one those that utilizing cpanel running around trying to fix the issue and one those who didn't even notice, the ones with the DirectAdmin and other alternative control panels.
Which group did you belong to? and If you faced the situation, how did you handle it? care to share your story?

My host handles cPanel upgrades, but in the last week or two I've noticed it has been super slow to save files in the file editor, and I don't know if that is related or not to this issue.

I've moved my personal servers off of cpanel now. This being the last straw.

The ONLY reason cPanel still survives is because of a few thigns
1) Convenience - migrating can be a pain.
2) Brand recognition - clients know the brand, and are familiar with the panel.

But for my own use case, my own personal servers, I've officially taken cPanel off all of them. Some of my servers aren't using any panel at all as it's not needed. Others where it can be convenient to do so, I switched to DirectAdmin. DirectAdmin has come a long way.

Once the price to convenience ratio disappears from cPanel, it just doesn't make sense to stick with them. not with the constant price hikes, bloatness, and the resources it use, it has become enterprise pricing without the enterprise level of product.
