Many people use social media for validation and instant gratification. It's like a competition to have the most followers or friends. People seek validation and instant gratification through likes/upvotes, comments that praise them or their work, or trying to add many people to be their followers or friends to feel accepted. Seeking this kind of satisfactory benefits from human beings can be a big let-down because those people won't always be there for you in times of need.
The thing that I really hate about social media is the fake life that people come up to display simply because they want validation and likes. They put pressure on other people and make some people that don't have strong mentality to be depressed.
Honestly now, it’s all the ads! I joined social media to keep up with family and friends and now I see none of their content and it’s all ads and suggested for you stuff which is completely irrelevant to what I like. It’s very frustrating.
Yeah, I think it has become a platform to shame others these days and glorify drama, etc.
I also feel that one of the issues with Social Media is a lot of people look for validation. They also compare their lives to others based on what they see online.
I mostly use it for business marketing, and staying in contact with family / friends. I hardly post life updates to FB, Instagram, X, etc.
One thing that I really dislike about social media is the show off lifestyle that many social media users do. They always pressure other people and make them feel inadequate.
Some social media communities are very perfect in gaslighting someone and guilt tripping people they don't know from Adam. That aspect of social media can make people depressed. That's what makes me detest social media sometimes.
