affiliate banner without telling you ?

I just or am about to remove 4 of my affilates who I have on my index but they don't have of CF one on there own. I personally don't find it such a problem but the least they can do is TELL ME don't you agree ?

Ever had the same like me ? Thats why its a good thing to watch your affiliate sites to see if they got your affiliate banner still on.

Yeah, someone did this to me. I asked them about it and they just said the image expired (it didn't). Ah well.

It's not a nice trick to pull, I usually try to check around the sites once a month to make sure the deal is being kept up. 😉

If I remove one I'll always notify them and state my reason for doing so. If someone removes mine and they don't tell me then there's get removed without warning as well.

There will always be people that trick you and add you so you add them then remove yours from their site and then they get a bit of free exposure until you notice. It is one of the things you have to accept and deal with when running a forum.

Before I used to Affiliate with other forums but I removed it now but I PM'd everyone that I affiliated with saying that the button will be removed and that they can remove mine from their site as well if they wish to. But I offered them a 3 day Global Announcement on my forum for the inconvenience.

Ditto!

I'd just create a blacklist and add the website to it, 😉

That's the main method for Twitter, lol. ( hate when people does it )

When you do this sort of exchange you trust that the other person will keep your button up because thats what they agreed to do.

I don't affiliate, if I did, I would probably take theirs down immediately and then get into contact with them to see what happened.

It's rather annoying, had it happen to me a few times. But I check my affiliates weekly, been doing that for the years my forum has been up, so any funny-buisiness that happens gets taken care of rather swiftly. 😛

Lol Wolfy that is solved now.

indeed I agree its very annoying and I think that just shows the person is Selfish who removes it without telling you. It shows the person wants to get as much he can out of resources he doesn't have to give anything for in return.

With my links directory (o), I don't delete links because I don't want links up any more, I only delete if they no longer are keeping their side of the agreement.

I have been through the affiliates road on forums before. I hated it when people decided to remove my affiliate button without warning, and only to find out later that they decided that they no longer wanted to affiliate with me, but never mentioned it with me.

I especially hate this with reciprocal linking.

This is pretty much why I don't bother with it anymore. It's such a common tactic and sometimes the sites simply go under.
