What former free message board services did you use?

Start off on Matt’s WWWboard Perl script, then went to eGroups, which turned into Yahoo Groups.

Then started using YABB, which I think still exists. Also had a brief dabble with PHPBB!

Mine was different. It was ikonboard.

Later it was phpbb, then I went premium: vBulletin, IPB, and others. MyBB, Discourse (eyesore), and a few others I can't remember offhand, but I've been there since the beginning.

Now, I'm all in on xenForo.

My very first forum was on EZBoard, the giant of hosted forums in its' day. Then I moved over to Xorbit, and a brief stint with Proboards before I switched to self-hosting and I've been through just about everything there is in that field. iKonBoard 2, iKonBoard 3, phpBB1, phpBB2, UBB, XMB, MercuryBoard, OpenBB, SmartBB, MiniBB, Phorum, Snitz, Funkboard, PunBB, vBulletin 2, vBulletin 3, IPB 1, IPB 3, XenForo, and so many more...I tried so many different forum software packages, but always came back to vBulletin, and now XenForo.

Started with InvisionFree, then moved to ZetaBoards until it closed down and became part of Tapatalk. I kept my old boards and let them be converted but moved away from the platform after that, as did most of the other ZB users and support staff.

Another one I tried was Zetaboards. Don't remember much of that either, but I do vividly remember broken links and complaints that I'm sure never got addressed
