I think SEO is the best way to get traffic from search engine. Beside blog commenting also work. I think every website have a main source of its traffic. For me I am getting much traffic from Google and also from some blogs. I have done some blog commenting its work for me. I am getting much traffic from blogs. However, my main source of traffic is Google. Let me know yours...what is the main source of your site traffic ?
Right now my forums main traffic is from search engines, social media, and various other places we have promoted on. Ever since starting to utilize our social media accounts there's been a slow but steady uptick in traffic from there (Twitter and Facebook mainly).
Mostly social networks. A little from promotion forums, and a little search engine traffic. When we have a spike, it is usually from someone sharing our content on a social sharing site like Reddit/HackerNews.
Social media is one big option on getting traffic that you have to keep on posting to get it going and then there is also SEO that I got done twice but it needs doing once an month really
Word of mouth. Google has not done shit for me, and I made sure to adjust SEO settings. There are way too many forums nowadays, and most of them are online graveyards. That convinces the masses that it's best to just stay on social media.
I think most of our traffic has come from word of mouth. A very small number of people signed up through FP as well. I'm not sure if we're getting many signups purely from social media.
I must put up a poll at some point in the future to see where our members first heard about us. That would be interesting.
Google is the main source of traffic. Apart from, my website topic is entertaining that's why i also get big amount of traffic from social media websites.
