Having a community behind me that supports my projects, and is willing to give me ideas/suggestions to make it better usually pushes me to focus my attention.
It is always about what I see on YouTube, lol. I make a lot of research on YouTube about how to make my forum better and I practically implement anything that I see over there on my forum as soon as I can. Having a forum that competes with the rest of similar forums gives me joy.
getting the right people to help to improve as they might have and bring ideas more so than yourself but end of the day it's hard to get the news if Forums are dead.
When it comes to running any kind of website, I will admit that one thing I have never understood is competition. I am someone who believes that for everyone to succeed you do need to work together to make that happen, too much bad competition can have a big impact on your site.
Unfortunately, we still have those who are in competition with others and in some cases, it's the competitive kind which can cause issues. People like that tend to be the ones who push me to do better with my sites.

If you see some members who are dedicating their time to make your community alive then it motivates you. But if there is users that saying good and nice and these one word and generic comments you may gave up.
The reason why I started my forum in the first place was to make it better, grow it to the point where I would be making a decent amount of money from having it monetized. I don't need anyone to make me mad before I strive to make my community a success. The money that I have invested in the project is a very good motivation for me to see it through.
