When someone creates a new forum, what are some things that they'll probably miss and not set up right away until they realize it later?

Unfortunately today more often than not that they've entered an already saturated niche.

If they're completely new to owning a forum most of the time they promote an empty forum. I was guilty of this too, always make sure you add content to your forum before opening up to the public.

I always try to fill up the empty forum even if I've got to check ChatGPT for thread ideas. It's not that hard to start a forum where there's one or two threads in each forum.

Building forums has a learning curve, even for experienced admins. I'm always tweaking my forums. Would I have done things differently if I started today? Yes, but it's the process that gets you there.

That there is no such thing as a "overnight success" and that "if you build it, they will come" is just a made-up line in a movie.

I say to all people that are starting out, they go overkill with so many boards and being empty is not a good start. Start small and then add more over time
