What are your thoughts on the said topic?

I have always found forums more fun than anything else. Especially if they have a lot of people and they cover a lot of different topics.

But if you every wanted to start your own, which would you choose?

I would probably go with forums myself. Problem is, there are way too many forums and coming out and gaining popularity and members that are going to stay could prove as the most difficult task. Being unique as well. There is almost no spot for having a unique forum anymore, competition is really big and you would have to work really hard to gain popularity and followers that would eventually be the reason your forum would survive and possibly make you some nice earnings as well.

Nothing stopping you doing all on one domain 🙂 I have an Forum and a website based.

Even FP can have an blog as it used to have at one point

I only ran a forum so really can't decide my preference but I found it was fun back in the day but I haven't ran one for years now. It's challenging to say the least but can be a rewarding experience if you are willing to stick it out for the long haul.

A forum, as I find things more interactive. I like talking to people and engaging with them and see what they are interested in. I'd spend more time on a forum, than a blog. It's easier to talk about things on a forum.

I don't have an experience yet but from how it looks to me, the blog is much easier to manage than a forum. I have been to many forums and I know that there are trolls and the so called flaming which are not easy to control. In blogs, most comments are positive and I rarely had seen bad comments. Maybe the only irritant in blogs are the spammers but they are not as prevalent in blogs than in forums. And usually blogs are light for conversation unlike in forums where arguments are not a rare occurrence. By the way, I had been invited to be a moderator, I think 3 forums sent me an invite but I turned them down.

I've been more of a forum guy earlier, but now I'm actually more keen on running a website! Forums are a lot of work, and you don't really have time for breaks when life gets in the way if you're running a forum (at least in the opening phases). Life often gets in the way for me, but I've discovered that running a website that doesn't require constant grooming and attention is more the thing for me.

Forum. Websites I can do and they're pretty fun, but blogs are just a lot of work.

I personally prefer to run forums because I can see how the results of my hard work pertaining to a forum is going. When people come and post and engage in conversation, I understand its working. However, websites and blogs are slow to show the progress.

* * I have never run a forum before. I have just started participating in forums and its wearing me out. By contrast, I have had websites and blogs for several years. Maintaining websites and blogs is easier. However (I'm just guessing), it looks like you can earn money quicker if maintain a forum.

I love blogging than starting a forum. It's harder to manage and control than a blog.

Most definitely a forum. I've visited a few blogs here and there and I've found that they really aren't for me.

I have to agree, it surely is more interactive. I never owned my own forums, but I have been enrolled in some forums back in the past, had admin ranks as well on some. With wide variety of topics you could be chatting about anything with just about anyone. You could even find a nice fella who could tell you something new, something you did not know before. Blogging on the other hand is quite different. Sure, you could be getting comments and what not, but in the end, it is you who is always leading the discussion. Sometimes I find it more fun to just jump into one. Forums allow you to do that easily 🙂

Website, probably. Forums are interesting, but there are too many of them, so...

I think both are good. It just depends on the kind of engagement you need.
Although personally, i will go for a forum. I have one. Yes, the challenge is getting people on the forum. And it doesn't end there, getting them to talk in the forum is another hustle.

The beauty of a forum is, once you have the like minded individuals. It will be very interesting and it will be a hot bed for generating new ideas in a particular field. I run a forum on Business. And am willing to stick with it to the end.

Although i would wish to get ideas and recommendations from members on how to grow my forum. I'm yet to be allowed by the admin to post links. I will respect the admin. My forum is biztalk(dot)co(dot)ke. I will post it later after getting the admin approval.

Maybe just advice me, what categories would you propose for a business forum? Thanks

Just blog first, because I think it's for me. Then, I'll start think others 😀

I prefer forums. They're a great way to get to know and interact with your members. It's also challenging and that's what I love is a good challenge

Forums are more fun due to the interaction. Nonetheless, that isn't always the case. For instance, some blogs have active commentators that seem like forum posters.

Why do just the one when you can do all three at once on the same domain and they all have their own perks! Running a website could mean running an e-commerce site to an affiliate blog and having a forum just extends that even more. That's why there's so many new platforms now and ways to build your own social site which has everything in one. 🙂

I like forum I think its my passion.. I also have blogs but I'm not really into it. 🙂
