Do you have an official or even an unofficial "to do list" when visiting your own forum?

Is there a series of steps you take upon visiting?

I myself:
  1. Go to What's New and reply to posts, most of them if not all of them. I try to reply with something engaging to keep the conversation going.
  2. Check and reply to any Private Messages.
  3. Check for any new members.
  4. Login to admin panel to check for errors
    1. Check for plugin updates
  5. Go back to forum and create new topics for each section I wish to form engagement
  6. Repeat the next visit

That is exactly what I do and in the same order. Great minds... lol!

I always start with PMs if I have any waiting since someone took the time to personally contact me and I feel that it's my job to give them the courtesy of a prompt reply.

Then I'll check the Staff forums to see if any input is needed or new information has been brought up or addressed. If there are Reports I'll look in on those or work them as needed.

After that I usually see if there are New Introductions made and I'll greet them.

Then it's New Posts and if there isn't too much activity I try to create new topics.

On Christianity Haven I have a friend who has been there since the beginning of the forum in the private women's section that I "chat" with daily so that's always tops on my list before I log out.

  1. Open the site up, 100% of the time I do not need to log into the site as I'm always logged in.
  2. Look at the forum to see how many pages of unread content and then start from the top category and work my way down by opening each topic that is unread. Read and mostly bypass them if I do not need to reply or do reply.
  3. I do not get a lot of PMS, but if I do get a PM, I mostly do them after I read some topics 🙂
  4. Once completed I then go elsewhere for an hour or two and then between the day visit the site 🙂
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh wait? this is what I do on FP everyday 😛

Yeah, I do post allot

That is what a forum is for in the end. I've joined forums in the past where the admins get upset for you posting too much and I usually become inactive there after. I mean I get it if you're posting nonsense but if you post quality content frequently-its helps the forum out in the end!

Very good question!
I check with the PMs. If it’s a simple answer, I’ll respond right away. If it needs time for me to think, I’ll take that time but would get back to them within a couple of hours.
If new members or birthdays, I will do those.
I have a running list of reading posts so that by the end of the week, all posts would have been read. Some I would have replied to as applicable.

I used to post like mad, but I have slowed down allot. I do not post for the sake of posting, I reply to threads/topics that are deemed necessary. Keeps the forum alive with active members anyway.

Does it load? Great, make some topics/replies and make sure everything is good. That's my daily plan.

What a great topic! Thank you for this post!

For me as a visitor on another forum:

  1. Read/Respond to any private messages.
  2. Go through notifications and reply to any appropriate topics
  3. Starting from bottom to top I check out boards with new topics and engage with any I find interesting.
  4. Start a new thread if I have time before moving on to a new website.

I don’t have a to-do list but generally I’ll look through PMs first, then clear notifications one by one.

After that I’ll go through any unread threads and comment if I want to. Nothing very strict to be honest.

I first check the notifications, then messages, if any, and finally, I go to the latest posts.
