I was interested in my mid-teens years in using the internet to make money online since I find it interesting that people can make money at home on the internet with their computer on their spare time without going out of the house to work at a 9AM-5PM+ job to earn the cash, and the online money can be a secondary or entire income stream for them.

Online income isn't enough for most people though. Only a small few get lucky and don't have to work normal jobs

Indeed, online income is not enough for most people, but it is a good way of earning enough to pay for web hosting and domain registration, so your website does not become another expense and you don't have to use a free host since online income can help pay for hosting and domain services.

Online income can be good for weekends and after work income if it is not taken to extremes like "ignoring your family and friends to spend all your time making and promoting your website on weekends and non-9-5 job times."

You're right. Having a website and a domain and spend a lot of time isn't a very good idea unless your site has the potential to grow into something really big. Anyways, its worth the try.

Ive been interested for about 3 -4 years but never succesfully hit it large. Ive had the odd few £s but not a lot but im still trying.

Is it really about luck, or is it more to do with how hard they work and how dedicated they are to what they are doing?

Indeed, hard work and dedication are both important when it comes to any job both online and offline. One of the main benefits of a regular job is it has an hourly wage, but even if you work very hard the boss will pay you about the same.

With the internet, you can make a few dollars to hundreds or thousands or more per day depending on how much hard work, dedication, and willingness to learn more ways to get more traffic and earn more.

But, sometimes it is about timing since some people claim that it was easier to make money with traffic back in the 1990s compared to today since there was fewer competition.

However, these days there are more ways to get traffic like from YouTube (some people even make money by just being a Youtube partner), hundreds of social bookmarking, article marketing directories, commenting on blogs, and social networking which was not really available back in the 1990s and early days of the internet.

Not necessarily. All it takes is time, dedication, and some creativity. Sure living off a single website is difficult, but there are other ways to make money online.

I was interested at the age of 19 when I came across some sites that where for sale on eBay. They promised that you would make money from them, so I did some research and that's how I got started in my journey. I didn't buy the sites from eBay because they suck. Nevertheless, I have made a couple of hundred dollars a month; however, my goal is to get in the thousands range.

I became interested about a year ago,
when I developed my first site (it is a online games site).
I started the site in order to learn web programming,
but noticed from the beginning that I can also earn money from it.

I've become interested in the last few months, mainly because its fun to do a job over the internet and earn money for it.
