I currently need urgent links to forums that offer you to make a hire topic. Where people are who are looking for job(s). Good, dedicated, kind people, who promise to work hard for the project they get to be part of. Is what I need.

I don't need links to new forums, no I need links to trusted and well established forums who got people who will reply to a hire topic.

thanks and sorry for me coming over wrong if I did. I am in a hurry and yeah

You must post your offer on as many forums as possible, feel free to make a thread about it at Post Bomb.

Yeah the best thing to do is advertise at a lot of promotion sites that you have job openings. But never hire someone you can't trust.

One thing to watch out for is your immediate memberbase, which is probably the best way to do it. Are you spotting members that are at least trying to offer advice of any kind? Like maybe you're not around and one member has a question about something, and someone may know a bit about the issue or situation at hand. Are they able to answer as matter-of-factly as they can without going into backseat moderation? (this may or may not be against your rules... every forum is different as far as views on this!) I was going to post something else but got interrupted, so now I forgot, but I'll edit this post when I think of more. The bottom line is, it's best to look into your immediate memberbase. Members you can trust, and who are active and helpful in the community in any shape or form.

Like Ashley said, look to your members first. If they're already active, then you know they already have some sort of motivation to stick around your site. If they have experience as well, then all the better.

I usually ask my members to fill out an application when I'm looking for staff. If I can't find anybody there, then I look elsewhere.

What I do is I just promote a member who I know and want to be part of my staff. I don't even use applications. When I need a new staff member I know who I'm going to promote.

You should post your application form about on several different forums, and possibly look for staff through your memberbase.

Persistence pays off, keep trying new things, and mutate the ones that don't work and evolve the ones that do 😛

I've found that promoting within the ranks is the best way to go. Scout who you have without mentioning that you are looking, and when you find someone that fit's what your looking for, ask them if they are interested. If they're not, move on to the next one.

If you promote someone from outside, your inner ranks and support base may feel slighted because you jumped ship to recruit staff.

I would start with friends you trust or people your friends know and trust, and don't always start off from top, eg don't give admin strait away try making them mods or other jobs on forums first.

I always pull staff from my member base and ask the other staff already on for advice on whether they agree with this choice. They also provide suggestions for candidates and we discuss if they would be good for the job. So far, this works well but you may have to overpromote just to make sure the work gets done on a busy day because you don't want to have 4 or 5 staff members suddenly not on on a Saturday and find yourself swamped and your forum half in chaos. It can happen pretty quickly...

Hiring people off other forums can appear as an insult to your forum members. If FP suddenly hired an unknown and he/she became admin, I'm sure the memberbase will be startled as to the rash decision making. Hiring a dedicated member from your own forum can lead to other members seeing what hard work could potentially lead to, although you don't necessarily want that to be the main mindset.

Ask some of your most trusted members, do remember to backup your forum before you do give them the permissions though

Start your forum with no staff. After its been established then promote some of your regulars if they wish to be promoted.

I agree with theezy, and many other posters above me.

You should minimize your staff as much as possible, or even have no staff at all when starting up a new forum. As the forum grows, consider some of your "regular" and "loyal" members to be staff.

You really should always hire someone who is a long time member of your own forum. I'll tell you from experience, hiring people from random websites that you don't know is not a good idea.

I second this, actually. I've gone to sites like this one and a couple others to look for staff, and trust me, the work put into it is not worth it. I've hired people from other forums only to have them either be seriously lazy, or making up excuses. For example, I once asked someone to be a moderator on my current forum. He started out really good, posting here and there, and whatever whatever. However, after a while he'd only post in the staff forum, which is a big no-no, and there was a time when he didn't show up at all. He made up this excuse about his computer not working, when I'd turn around he'd be twice as active on another forum! You really got to be careful about whom you hire, depending on what your rules and regulations are. The person you hire could stab you in the back in a sense if you're not careful.

Well that could happen with any staff member. The reason I suggest finding someone who joins your forum is that it's good to make sure it's someone who has a genuine interest in the subject of your site.

When I made my site I found someone who was interested in the same things and we started the site as co-admins. That's really the only situation where I find it acceptable to search for people on other sites. eg "looking for someone interested in football to make a football forum" is a lot different than "looking for 2 supermods and 3 mods for my forum". The thing is you really just get people who want to be able to have moderation powers and will screw around for a week or two, then they're pretty much done. I will tell you right now taking people who have been long time members from your membership list and offering them staff positions is the best way to do it.
