What do you mean by 'free counterpart'? I never knew SMF had two seperate pricings.

No... It's just that CreateAForum would be a suitable counterpart to SMF 😛 Same for (the late) IcyBoards with MyBB and Jcink with IPB 🙂 Also, there's a free counterpart of Xenforo called LayerBB apparently.

Yeah. CreateAForum does everything from letting you set up the forum to hosting the forum for you. Besides, since CreateAForum is just SMF but modified, it doesn't let you install new themes or plugins. So it's just what you see is what you get. I'm glad I switched to the actual SMF.

ZB might've been but they've shut down by now.

Not for me it wasn't. I was able to set up a ZB forum in a few hours and open it on that same day.

That's pretty fast.
