I notice a lot of people say use SEO, Directories, Backlinks, Social Networks, and Blog Forum commenting to promote a site.

But, almost no one say use Peer to Peer software like Bitttorrent, Limewire, eDonkey, or even chat rooms, usenet, and other file sharing software to promote their website by sharing files with the file sharing community.

It seems only Linux, Open Source software, Public Domain Films, Anime, and music uses Bittorent, and other similar peer to peer file sharing software to promote and share their content like free software, eBooks, music, and films.

If a user who downloaded their files via Bittorrent like their files, they will be likely to go on their website by clicking on a link inside of the document , file, or by just typing in the domain name in a web browser to go directly to the site.

In the past, I found a lot of cool websites like OpenOffice after downloading content like Linux software, Public domain content via Bittorent.

I would think mainly its because of the people who use sites like that. I know there are a lot of people to steal software and what not on those sites mentioned above...

Those are not people I would want lurking around my forums, haha. Plus what real purpose would they have for promoting forums anyways? As for chat rooms, I used to be big into them and ran my own IRCD servers at one time, back in the days of dialup haha but they don't seem that big anymore at least from what I can tell...

A file sharing forum which talks about "Legal free software like Firefox, OpenOffice, Google Chrome, FileZilla, VLC, etc" might be useful for promoting forums on Bittorrent, and peer to peer programs since people tend to use file sharing programs to download all sorts of stuff,

It is a good idea. If you make your own content, you can leave the url to your community, blog, etc. It is good if you intend to keep the url for a long time, because many times I've tried to go to the link provided in scanlations, software etc and it turns out to be a dead link.
