My friends often say that I am a reallist and I couldn't suspend my disbelief even for a short time. That is regarding action movies that I usually find some impossible and out of logic scenes. For instance, in the Fast and Furious film of Vin Diesel, there was a scene where his car traveled fron one building to another while in the upper floor. And when it comes to fighting, forgive me but those fight scenes were not realistic.

Actions movies tend to cater to a certain audience that watch movies for "the action." Add some drugs, sex, and violence, and you have the perfect recipe for a typical action movie.

I think most people grow out of liking action movies. I was never a fan. There are a few exceptions. Chuck Norris and Bruce Willis have always managed to star in some unique movies. But I haven't watched any of the recent ones.

Most action movies these days I watch seem too generic in my opinion, maybe I'm not looking in the right place?

I like action films that take risks like JOHN WICK or LUCY. But these old franchise retreads like TERMINATOR and DIE HARD, I just can't watch them anymore. The last good TERMINATOR movie was part 3. Not epic like T2 was, but it was still a good film imo. LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD was a nice ushering in of the series into the new era. But the next installment after that was god awful.

In my opinion, most action movies today rely too heavily on CGI and crazy special effects. In doing that, they seem to totally forget about character development and stories. If you give me a compelling story with characters that I could get emotionally invested in, I could suspend my disbelief for a couple hours.

That too. The CGI overuse these days is a sad thing to see. Really is a result of lazy film making and people trying to do things on the cheap. I have always been a fan of films that use real fx. Latex, plastics, rubbers, moving mechanisms and blood. Nowadays though, we're seeing so much CGI it ruins the movie-going experience - and it's bad CGI. Which is CGI that isn't smoothed into the overall movie to look effective and professional. Some productions are even using CGI for blood scenes and explosions. CGI Blood and explosions is something I thought I'd never see. Two popular tenants of film making scaled back for budgetary purposes. Sad.

Yes, I couldn't agree more with everything that you're saying. I think that it shows much more creativity when real effects are used. I understand that certain action movies require some level of CGI, which is perfectly fine, but I definitely think that it's taken too far.

Action movies are just entertainments that we enjoy watching over and over again. Actions like Mission Impossible movies and James Bond are just for the virtual world.

In the 90's, they wouldn't even think of using CGI for action films. They'd bring in a stunt man and shoot the scene repeatedly if they had to. Just to get it right. Now? They just use CGI for those 'difficult' scenes. Instead of relying on creativity and ingenuity to find their way out of a tough film making spot.

I think you should watch Jackie Chan's movie, in addition to beautiful martial arts elements; there are more humorous elements. Of course, His films are not available drugs, sex; but I think it's great movies
