WikiLeaks published a new set of cables Wednesday, and in a defiant message posted online the secret-spilling website promised that the leaks would keep on flowing despite the arrest and jailing of its founder on sex allegations.

Assange's lawyer, Mark Stephens, called his client innocent of any sex charges and questioned whether the accusations are part of an effort by governments to silence him. "Many people believe Mr. Assange to be innocent, myself included," he said. "Many people believe the prosecution to be politically motivated."

This is so obviously away to get him within a court system. Many governments were not even looking for him & thought he was not their problem, until suddenly this women (who has ties to The CIA) claims she was raped by him.

The Swedish Government has a treaty with The USA, so my guess is if he is found innocent, they'll just hand him over to America. This is assuming he does not have a sudden accident.

I read an article which said the victim of the sex crime wanted to charge Assange with "sex without a condom, but she agreed to have sex without a condom in the past with him."

Assange is being prosecuted for having sex without a condom, with someone who didn’t mind the lack of condom at the time, but who subsequently was cross about the fact that he didn’t use a condom. Who was a 30something university lecturer (not that it would have made any difference had she been an 18-year-old student).

This just sound kind of ridiculous since it was consensual sex without a condom. Sweden has some pretty strange laws.

Well he is in jail for one main reason, WikiLeaks, but why would someone build an empire of articles and then someone claims a sex allegation when the empire is ultimate.

Assange is basically charge with consensual sex without a condom/"sex by surprise" from many articles I read online. But, I agree he is basically in jail because he messed with the wrong people by publishing a lot of confidential documents on WikiLeaks.

Wouldn't surprise me if some "accidents" happened to him if he hadn't secured himself.
