I think it is possible that Small form factor desktops like the Gigabyte Brix Pro could be more popular in the future when small desktop make it possible for people to easily install mini versions of video cards like a Nvidia GTX 750 which can play games like Titanfall on Higher settings.

Also, they can be good for small tables where a full size tower PC take up more space. Some small PC also can be mounted to the back of LCD monitors with a mounting bracket, and screws, so they don't use much desk space.

Yes, but only when you can design a system that is as powerful as an ATX system and compact that into a size like in that video. Obviously this will take time for nanotechnology to be developed even further, but if a system of that size can manage Titanfall, then that's a pretty attractive option.

That would really be nice to see this really take off one day. Hopefully they can design Small form factor desktops that are good enough to operate and store what the larger desktops can.

Yeah. As technology gets better, it only makes sense that desktops will slowly get smaller while at the same time getting more powerful. I think it'll still be awhile (6-10 years) before high-end desktops start coming in sizes like that though.

I recently read on Tom's Hardware which is a PC News website that Gigabyte will launch a Gaming version of the Gigabyte Brix which is the same size.

Gigabyte Intros ‘BRIX Gaming’ DIY PC Kit

Are you looking for a gaming rig you can alter yourself but don't want the bulk of a monster PC? Gigabyte may have the solution you seek with the launch of its BRIX Gaming DIY kit. This boxy gaming device is available now here in the United States, packing an Intel Core i5-4200H and Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 discreet graphics, all packed into a 59.6 x 128 x 115.4 mm enclosure.

The specs show that the Intel Core i5 processor is clocked at 2.8 GHz (3.4 GHz turbo). There are also two SO-DIMM DDR3L slots for adding up to 16 GB of memory, one mSATA slot for adding SSD storage and a SATA slot for adding a 2.5-inch HDD/SSD drive. There's even a half-size mini-PCIe slot that's occupied by the 802.11ac + Bluetooth 4.0 combo half mini card.

I think these small desktops would be popular once Steam OS consoles are released, and companies like Gigabyte also sell Windows PC versions which can play all PC games + console emulators as an alternative to Steam OS consoles , and the PS4.

Plus, there seem to be fewer consoles people want to buy now since the Wii U, and Xbox One are less attractive for a lot of gamers because there are not enough intensive games on the Wii U for hardcore gamers who play shooters, RPGs like Final Fantay and Kingdom Hearts, or Grand Theft Auto on the Wii U. The Xbox One kind of messed up their reputation with the Always-Online game play, and its Kinect, cable TV and online media streaming features which many hardcore gamers were not interested in.

Interesting, I really think it'll kick off in a few years, as long as the benefits outweigh the slightly higher price. Console gaming is certainly going downhill, and I'd be surprised if we get to one or two more generations of consoles.

I think if you know where to buy affordable computer parts, building a smaller computer could be about the same price, or even cheaper since computer parts prices drop in price pretty fast when the next version of a CPU, and video card is released.

I think console gaming will still exist, but there will be a smaller number of console gamers, less excitement, and smaller hype because PC Gaming is just as fun or more fun. PC Games are usually cheaper if you buy a lot of PC games from Steam Sales, Humble Indie Bundle, and play free to play games like Dota 2, and League of Lengends.

PC games can also be played at 1080P or higher, and at over 60 Frame Per Second which the Wii U, Xbox One, and PS4 sometimes can't play some games at the full 1080P resolution at 60 Frame per second at higher quality settings like a more recent PC with a Nvidia GTX 750 video card which can be bought for $100.
