What worked in the past to gain traffic for your site but doesn't work like that now?

Google use to work great but with AI it seems more concerning now 🙁
Most people now find me through other forums.

I saw nothing worked in the passed and now it's gotten worse since people are not into things that they used to.

I completely agree, not giving up is the only thing i can think of though.

SEO was a lot easier in the past. In fact, I made a couple hundred from ads around 2011, due only to SEO. Anyway, though, I'm not whining about it, cause my sites were very simple. They didn't deserve to get traffic.

Social media marketing worked for traffic in the past but these days people are not interested in clicking links that take them away from the platform. Since they don't click links, we don't get traffic.

I get decent traffic from Google. It's been progressing nicely since I started my site. We currently rank #2 in google for Poker Community. SEO takes time, good content, link building, and patience.

In the past, I used keyword-stuffed blog posts to attract traffic, which worked due to less competition and simpler algorithms.

I've learned to prioritize high-quality, informative content that aligns with user intent rather than just targeting keywords. I will focus on creating valuable content that engages my audience.

Keyword stuffing your content is a form of black hat SEO. It may have worked in the short term, but it wouldn't be effective in the long run, as search engines would eventually penalize you.

1. Keyword Stuffing

Repeating your page's main target keyword(s) excessively won't help you to rank. Keyword stuffing, as it's known, will almost certainly result in the opposite.

Black hat SEOs will sometimes attempt to manipulate a site's rankings by including a keyword unnaturally across a page. Keyword stuffing often occurs in random blocks that sit outside of the main content or within paragraphs that just don't make sense when you read them aloud.
