because i have been working hard on my forum and i was thinking about taking a break from running a forum and just participating on forums like FP and other ones but i don't know if it is the right thing to do so i want to know if its the right thing to do

A break does do wonders. I promise. I was forced to take a one month break from the net a few months back. Cause my PC crashed, and only had internet access through my Wii; which I just couldn't bare with.

I finally just let go, and forgot the internet even existed for that time. And, it really felt good. But, as we all know; we can't stay away for too long.

Once you get a break from managing a forum, you'll relieve yourself of the pressure, then eventually miss it after a while. By then, you'll be ready to dive right back in with more determination the next go around.

If you wish to take a break then sure. 🙂 I've taken breaks from AH a few times and it's been getting more active than when I started it. 😛

If you want to take a break from it, why not. True administrators and webmasters work hard till their hearts explode and have a passion for it, and love do it. However if you mean just like a vacation then sure why not. 😛

Yeah I think a break away is what is needed sometimes - we put our heart and souls in and don't give enough time to the real world. Step back, take some time out and come back refreshed and with new ideas !

I have been forced to take a break form my forum over problems with my PC over the last few weeks , but I can say I was missing it and wondering how it was etc.

YES BREAK! I've been working on forum non-stop for 2 weeks sleep deprivation and all plus school! T_T

That's what I got to learn to do is take breaks once in a while. Maybe not close the forum down totally, but just take a break and let someone else take the reigns for a while, even if it's for a few months. I tend to get too frusterated too easily and I end up closing my forum all together, and it makes me disgusted in the end, especially if it was a project I enjoyed doing. So yeah, definetly take a break. If you have a co-administrator, or even a moderator with administrative powers, hand the board over to them for a few days or whatever you need to do, as that's what I need to do is turn the board over to someone and forget it. I mean, a forum is NOT your day job; it's just a hobby, and a person needs to learn to treat it like a hobby. That's something I need to learn to do.
