I just looked at vB and noticed version 5 is out, and to be honest it looks not that bad...
Unfortunately it has less features than VB4, it seems to run very slowly (even on vBulletin's own site) and the feedback from VB customers has been extremely negative. However, I do hope they get it sorted out and give customers what they deserve.

I agree, from what I have seen of it is not really that big of an innovation, and as you said Fergal, runs really slow.
There's always XenForo guys. 😉

I'm just glad that this is settled and we can start moving forward with development.Waiting to see what features 1.2 will have.

I'm glad this is finally over, and I'm also glad for the outcome. However, I am a bit skeptical about what terms the case was actually settled over...
I'm curious to know too, but I'm not sure why you're skeptical at all. XF is proceeding with development, and continuing as their own entity not owned by IB or anyone else. That's the important information and we know that for sure. The details and how they got to that point really don't matter to us as customers.

I'm skeptical because in my eyes it is not really a win (in my eyes at least) if they agreed to do something such as pay out so much...

You have no way of confirming or even thinking that XF paid VB. You can assume, but that doesn't make for much of an argument.

Yes, of course I can only assume and this only my opinion, but unfortunately almost everything is money driven nowadays. I may be wrong, or I may not.

I don't know why XF would have had to pay anything to VB. They said they didn't use any VB code, so why would they have to pay anything? In my opinion, if XF had been found to have done anything wrong the judgement would have been more public. Similar to how it was in the Samsung Apple case. However, as others have said, we really don't know.

I'm not an expert in this field (far from it), I'm just expressing my opinions. XenForo is a great company and software, and I hope the future is good for them. 🙂

In a way they would have paid in their time and legal fees.

People don't have to prove they are innocent, they are innocent until proven guilty and XenForo haven't been found guilty of anything.

Good point, they will also have lost a lot of sales as potential customers waited for the legal finding. Has it been disclosed how the legal fees were divided up?

This is true. In a court of law you're innocent till proven guilty.
So Fergal is right, XenForo don't have to prove anything. 😎
VBulletin had to prove they broke the law...and they couldn't.

You don't have to keep up with XF to know that you're innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. lol.

About time. Now we should be able to see some quality software from them.

Are you implying it's not already quality?

>Implying it isn't quality
>Implying I was implying it wasn't already quality software

XenForo is fine, IB sucks.

I am glad to see that this lawsuit finally ended. XenForo is victorious. 🙂

Great to hear about them being victorious in the lawsuit. Happy to see they won!
