I think it can be an okay hobby if that's what you are into as long as plankers practice good judegement and safety while planking.

I believe planking was invented by the Japanese or European according to the Wikipedia article. But, the Aussie's came up with the term "planking"

The fun part of planking is taking pictures and video of people planking in unusual places like planking at a fast food place, office, work, etc, and later sharing the pics and vids with other plankers on Facebook, Forums, and YouTube.

I dont see the point.
I'd rather go to a theme park and ride rollercoasters for fun. 😛

Me and a few of my friends "planked" a few months ago, thinking it was just some stupid thing that I had seen some mates do. Little did I know it would become a worldwide phenomenon o.0

I'm kind of surprise that "planking" has become a world wide phenomenon as well.

I think it has a lot to do with how cheap cell phone cameras and digital cameras are which people used to take pictures of people planking while uploading them to Facebook.

Plus, the popularity of social networks to share your plank photo with others on Facebook and Twitter.

Unless it is on a bed for sleep, or some other fun activity, planking is idiotic, and is yet another testament to human stupidity.

Its popularity is an example of contagious stupidity really is.

I wonder how many have earned a Darwin Award while doing this..

I read an article on CNN a few days ago about a man who fell to his death while doing this. However, it's not very dangerous if you do it from a safe height.

Planking has been all over the news over here (Australia), mainly because of the CNN link above..

Personally I think that plankers probably need to find something better to do with their time, but I have seen some pretty impressive shots.

(Lol at the FP's video - "Planking on other planks *lays down on pile of wood*")...

planking looks very fun, ive been kicked out of my local shoppimg cemtre once and id do it again just to do this! lol (does look a bit boring, maybe i will try it naked - I AM JOKING!)
