A few years ago Microsoft moved their disc manufacturing división to Humacao, Puerto Rico. Software like Microsoft Operating Systems, Office and games published by Microsoft Game Studios (Halo, Forza, etc) are made in this facility.

Yesterday I heard a rumor that copies of Halo Reach were being sold on the street. I was also told that a few people that bought illegally the discs were playing them in Xbox Live online. The next day, I was told, federal agents presented themselves to the persons house along with a security officer from the Microsoft Manufacturing Facility. They arrested at least one person and interrogated him as to how he had obtained the illegal copy. This was the rumor. It sounded like a story we have heard thousands of times.

Today while I prepared for my Gaming Update in El Circo Mega 106.9fm, I spoke with our news department and they contacted the press offices for the FBI and ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). They neither confirmed, nor denied that there was an investigation in progress for theft at the Microsoft Manufacturing Plant.

Once I went on air about this rumor and the answer I got by the federal agencies I received a call from one of our listeners that confirmed the rumor. This person told us that a young man bought the original copy of Halo Reach from somebody in the street, went to work the next day and while at work his little brother logged in to Xbox Live and played the game online. The next day the agents and the security officer showed up at his doorstep and confiscated Microsoft’s property. The young man was also asked to name the person that sold him the disc (or as the agents put it: “tell us who sold it to you or you will face the full extent of the law and we will hold u totally responsible for these acts”) I have been told also that there is a total of 100 original copies of Halo Reach in the streets of Puerto Rico.

We spoke with a Microsoft Press Official in Puerto Rico and they said to have no comments on the matter for now.

Wow, get some security microsoft. It should take someone very clever to steal from somewhere like that.

Wow, black market video games? They probably paid up the butt to buy those discs too.

If this is true it really shows how corrupt our government is.

And games being leaked before they're officially released is nothing new, it's quite common actually.

I know, but Bungie has been good about keeping the Halo franchise secret. At least, I haven't heard of the Halo games being leaked before.

People that play Halo are already pathetic, now worse. Noobs. 😛
People don't know better. A lot of people have only played consolized crap dumbed down for the masses. There is not a single game released on the 360/ps3/wii that will go down as a quality video game.

I agreed with you up until that point.

I may be wrong, but it's what I believe. In the 90s the production costs of video games were low enough so publishers allowed development studios to experiment with new ideas, making truly unique games. Modern day games all go for the "tried and tested". They're simply not memorable.

Wow, who would be dumb enough to steal something so easy to track down.

If they didn't play it on Xbox Live, how would it be so easy to track down?

It's funny because millions of gamers play Halo, and not to mention they are great games.

Thats true. There are far too many games that fall within the same genre's in todays world. FPS comes to mind.

Exactly. My post was an overstatement, but I really don't think that the popular FPSes like COD or Halo will be remembered in 15 years as classics, just like we only remember a handful of the classic platformer genre.
