A TEEN fan of hit game Call Of Duty was last night under arrest for deliberately bringing its online version crashing down - to boost his SCORE.

The cheating Brit, 17, was tracked down by Scotland Yard cyber cops after sabotaging the site from his bedroom to prevent tens of thousands of rival players logging on.
His aim was to rack up the winning score by preventing anyone better than him killing his character. Video game giant Activision was left battling for hours to get the online version of Call Of Duty: Black Ops up and running again.
The college geek crippled the wargame site with a malicious program he wrote - which he sold online so other gamers could cheat. It bombards websites with messages until they grind to a halt under the volume - known as Denial of Service.
A massive hunt by Scotland Yard's Central e-Crime Unit traced the nerd, who is from a respectable family, to Beswick, Greater Manchester - where he was nicked for computer crime.
A police source said last night: "His whole world came crashing down when we knocked on his door at 6am.
"He was still in bed and didn't realise he was in so much trouble."
Call Of Duty: Black Ops is the fastest selling video game of all time, shifting seven million copies within 24 hours of going on sale.

Wow, that's terrible. I can see me getting mad at losing, but taking it that far? Just no

Haha I know right, and he was dumb enough to not even realize they can track his ip down.

I don't think he should have been arrested. Since he obviously has more than the usual amount of knowledge they should use him or at least offer him a job in some field that needs that kind of a person.
I think that when you're dealing with people that smart and have that amount of knowledge regarding hacking, ect. they should be offered to help test-hack major sites to stop other hackers from doing so the companies can patch the holes in the security ahead of time.
If he can do this at seventeen, imagine in a few years when he's twenty five or thirty.
Next thing 'ya know he'll be hacking ATMs..

This kind of thing just reminds you that you should always keep a huge magnet around just in case the cops show. Oh yeah, and have an escape route 😉

Lol he sure now made quite a name for him self. You won't be seeing him online on COD for some time now.

Thats taking gaming a bit too far, I play games to have fun, not to win

Same here. I also play games to have fun. I don't play games to beat millions of other players. Sure, getting a high score is fun and exciting, and it can even encourage you to keep going so you can get a bigger score than that, that is unfair at the same time and way out of line. I'm always excited when I get a high score and I actually beat someone who once had a higher score than me, but I wouldn't get that excited to where I'd have to hack a site just to win. That's a no-no right there.

Magnet is not needed. Just use a LIVE CD on a system with a large amount of RAM, but NO hard drive. 😉

So if I break into your house by picking your front door's lock, should I be offered a job as a locksmith?

People really need to get a grip, he deserves to be arrested if he cares so much about a game... wow.
