As its been pointed out this has already been done to death like say for instance y2k being "The End".
2012 is just a way for the media to cash in on a ancient Mayan calender which never said that the world would end to begin with.
Its only the end of the mayan calender and nothing more.

This concept of the world ending is really bloated. What does that even mean? The world ends every day and the next it starts over again. If this 2012 end of the world scenario is more referring to massive cataclysms, then no I don't buy that at all. I doubt the Mayans even intended to convey that. It has more to do with astrology. Around the time of this 2012 date, the Earth is ushered into the Age of Aquarius, which has more to do with social change than the Earth splitting in half. We are seeing a lot of social change today, but then again we always have at some time or another. The more things change, the more they stay the same. However, with rapid advancements in technology we're also having, the social change could be unique since technology has greatly contributed to it. I'd like to see humanity progress as much socially and mentally as we have technologically, otherwise I think we're screwed. Maybe 2012 does have significance in some form, but it is blown way out of proportion with all the doomsday crap.

This topic makes me laugh.
It is just the end of their silly calendar but more importantly the end of the last age they counted. So the constellations are shifting and what not but I never understood how that means the end of the world. From looking at NASA info and stuff I'm not really sure what it was they were counting down or if they were completely off or what. It's the age of Aquarius coming haha! 😀Carsonk said:
