The decision for the 2018 and 2022 world cup host takes place on December 2nd.

The candidates are:

2018: Spain/Portugal, Russia, England, Netherlands/Belgiu
2022: USA, Australia, Qatar, South Korea, Japan

Who do you think will get to host the 2018 and 2022 World Cups? Who do you want to host the 2018 and 2022 World Cups?

I'd like to see England host it in 2018. We have a good claim, especially as the Olympics means improved facilities and infrastructure.

I would hate Russia to get 2018, they've been too difficult during the campaign. Spain/Portugal have a good claim, so it could be between them and England. Belgium/Netherlands could get it, I'm not sure they have good enough facilities, though.

Would love to see Australia get 2022, though it would mean matches at stupid times... They also have good facilities and proved they can host a major sporting event in 2000 - they have a chance. I can't see South Korea/Japan getting it, as they hosted it in 2002. Qatar have the fact that no Arab nation has hosted it before on their side; they also hosted the Asian Games in 2006, so have the infrastructure. The extreme heat could be a problem, though. The USA also have a decent claim; they are proving to be increasingly powerful in football and their national team has grown from strength to strength. I have no doubts about their infrastructure or facilities, so they are definitely contenders.

i don't think spain/portugal or belgium/netherlands will get it because fifa said they don't want co-hosts anymore. it will be between england and russia, i have a feeling russia will get it.

in 2022, i'm pretty positive the u.s. will get it. we are larger than all the other countries and we already have strong facilities and infrastructure. and also why would the u.s. have pulled out of bidding for 2018? it must be that they have a strong feeling they will get to host it.

Ah yes, I'd forgotten that. I have a feeling Russia will get it - people tend to support Russia a lot. Our squabble with them about them insulting London won't have helped us, either.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the USA got it. I think Qatar will be the dark horse though - there's no reason that they can't get it, especially if they get support from all the other Arab nations. Australia also have a decent claim, I think similar to the USA. Both showed at the summer that they are serious about football and both have good enough facilities to host it.

I hope the US doesn't get it. People here aren't soccer fans. They only care about soccer when the World Cup goes around, in short, they're frontrunners. The World Cup is best played in a country with true year-round soccer fans.

many people here are year-round soccer fans, and the world cup would just increase the number of fans

There are many football (I hate the worse soccer) fans in the USA. It is not the most popular sport, but it is growing. You just have to look at how far the MLS has come over the past two decades to see this. There's no reason that the USA will not be a major footballing force in the coming decade.

A very sore subject over here I'm afraid....England's bid was by far the best yet we only received 2 votes? The fact that the Panorama program on FIFA members taking bribes/corruption a few days before went out certainly didn't help the cause, neither did the anti FIFA reports in the news papers!
We were never going to win any way by FIFA reports as they were looking for new places.....
For England it means that the next chance to host a world cup will be in the year 2040, skipping at least one generation of football supporters completely 🙁

I wish Australia had got the 2022 world cup, it would be so great for the soccer community over here, and we have great facilities too
