How important is 24/7 support to you? Does your hosting provider offer it? This is something we're looking at offering. Is it also as important to have 24/7 live chat support? 🙂

My host has 24/7 ticket support and 24/7 live chat support. I think this is one of the most important features for a host to have. Customer service is everything, apart from the actual effectiveness of the hosting of course.

I will almost never go with a host unless they have 24/7 live support staffing. Most of my projects are for my nonprofit I work for, and we deal with a lot of information at one time. If our online presence is disrupted at all, I need to be able to talk to someone about it immediately and get our issue fixed.

If there's no one from our provider to talk to, we're pretty much SOL until someone wakes up, has their coffee, and decides to help us. 😛

24/7 Support is very important! If you're website goes offline or something happens or don't know something, then you need to get immediate support.

If you care about your site it is very important for your host to offer 24/7 support.

24/7 support is very important. I would not consider a host without 24/7 support. That's why I normally go for big hosts who have staff on duty 24/7.

I'd hate to bump an old topic up, but I believe that 24/7 support could definitely impact your guest to client conversion ratio. This was something that I was considering doing at one point, but I wasn't sure how to do it. There were a couple websites that I ran across to pay for support agents, but I wasn't sure if that was the option to go or not.

I don't think 24/7 is that necessary, unless you have a very large site, and you are paying top bucks for a host. If you are not paying a lot of money I wouldn't expect 24/7 coverage, though I would expect that they would get back to you quickly and you wouldn't be waiting on a long wait time.

I personally think it is necessary, as long as the support itself decent and helpful and have the abilities and permissions to fix things. However if you do not have that good of a support team, I highly doubt a 24/7 support team would matter...

I'm on free hosting so 24/7 support doesn't matter that much to me, since in a free hosting environment you don't have to worry about the technical end of running a forum much, but when I was on advanced hosting, it mattered quite a bit. I mean, I understand that if you're with a host that has a lot of customer's, you're not always going to get an answer to your inquiry the split second you submit a support ticket and I understand that, but sometimes it was really frusterating waiting for a response to questions I had, especially if they were urgent which thankfully wasn't that often.

If you know what you're doing, then 24/7 support isn't too important. It's only important if you're new to web hosting and management.
