I keep telling myself to wait at least until they release a better model. It's not practical. It's not portable. (But then again I rarely leave my house with my Macbook as it is.) This is certainly not a need. Tell me all of the reasons why I should not get this beautiful machine.

Does anyone have one of these? They seem remarkably affordable for an Apple product and a good fit for my music studio.

The screen looks pretty big but the ram isnt very big so it mite be slow

not perfect for everyone, then again I'm a windows person

You can increase the memory (pre-purchase) to 16GB and SSD storage up to 1TB but that does come at an unreasonable price hike in my view.

I assume the M1 chip included in the linked model is the 2020 8 core which is a seriously powerful chip, faster than a Intel i7 and close to an i9. I'd say for most applications the base model should suit the majority of needs.

It isn't perfect and I'm also a heavy Windows user but Windows 11 won't run on any of my PCs even though they leave most off-the-shelf PCs in the dust. After pricing up a new PC for my music studio the current iMac actually gives more for less money plus there's far better compatibility with the software I use.

You can force it to upgrade, the system can be bypassed to windows 11

People have done and tested windows on older hardware and works fine

I might consider it if I had TPM v1.2 but I don't and as my studio computer will be accessed by multiple users I need to it be as secure as possible. When it's been replaced I may well give it a try just out of curiosity.

Got to have it on yes, sounds like your PC can run it you need to enable it. On that not your system still be the same anyway with multiple users. just create multiple users accounts for them

Might as well get me one while you’re at it. 🙂

Acording to something I've just read the M2 chip is about to find its way into some of Apple's new products and it benchmarks around 40% faster so I think we should hang on for a bit 😉

I've managed to hold off. We'll see how I feel in the new year. Considering this looming recession fixin' to happen I'm thinking it's probably best to hold on to cash and perhaps even invest some in the next few months. Now that I think about it, I might end up getting the iPhone Pro 14 before a new computer.

I did go and buy one of these, the top of the range model with no additions. I really needed the additional ports and storage.

I have to say it's weird having an entire computer contained in a monitor not much thicker than a mobile phone but it's blindingly fast plus the sound and vision quality is pretty spectacular. My only criticism so far is the mouse is too slow even at the highest setting.
