1) You Will Not Become “Big” Over Night

This is one of the first and most important things to remember when starting a blog. Sure, it may be easy to start a blog, but it’s getting it “big” that’s the hardest. Believing that you will become “big” is a great thing to do, it just wont happen over night; becoming popular takes time, work, and some skill. There has never been a single blog that has made it’s way to the top in a single day or night.............

Also one thing that is not listed in the article in said link, is pinging.

If your blog does pinging for you, like a wordpress.org blog, you need to go to the writing setting in the WP_Admin panel, enable both of the remote publishing by ticking the boxes next to the two items, and insert the following into the update services text field.
