Today we have reached another milestone of 30000+ posts which for any forum is a good achievement.

Also you may have noticed we have added a phpBB SEO mod to the forum so now urls look like web-template-in-progress--t5010.html rather then the default links which used to be like this - viewtopic.php?f=49&t=5010

This is a lot more search engine friendly. All the old style links will still work but there are a few bugs with it but (i think) i have fixed all the main one but if you see find one please tell us.

We will also be making changes to the package system in the next 24-48 hours which will dramatically improve the package service although more details will be posted when it has been added.

As you said, 30,000 is an incredible achievement. I look forward to seeing the new package system, and the (hopeful) flood of new members that should arrive with the aid of the SEO [Mod]

Hopefully this mod will work an make a difference... It has taken me ages to do all the edits...

There was 54 edits to 8 files and 1 SQL query not counting having to redo edits if i messed up an edit and not counting fixes for some known bugs with it. -n-
 
It only took me the best part of 20 minutes to install it (before bug fixes)...now onto the rest ~rolleyes~
 
I suppose i did install it to a test forum first to test it out but still it is fast.

I take it you didn't mess it up -lol-

Heh, maybe I'll either use the premoded version of phpBB3 to use the mod, or I could get someone at phpbbinstallers to do it. I doubt Christian will want to do it to Wild World Crossing after doing it to P4F. ~razz~
 
it converts all of the links on your board to become more search-engine friendly.

@cool_corgi, the SEO Mod is (how should we put it...) backside to install, and there are annoying bugs which get in the way, so no thanks ~razz~ I'm quite happy to do the cash mod for you though ~smile~
 
Congratulations on 30,000 posts. If we are doing so well, why do we need the SEO... It seems to be doing great without it @ 30,000 posts... I understand the need though...
 
The SEO mod will hopefully make us even better and make us get more traffic from Search engines.

It can only make things better.
 
Don't expect a flood of new members from the SEO mod. It is very easy to get traffic, but it's about turning that traffic (guests) into members, then trying to get them members to remain active.

We were talking over at TAZ about SEO, and were debating vBSEO - which is a vB plugin and rewrites urls ect.

SEO cannot be done over night, and takes a long time. A simple robots.txt is good enough.

I recommend you add this to your .htaccess to reduce bandwidth theft:

The mod has been removed as it made too many other problems.
 
We weren't expecting a flood of new people but an enhancement here and there could make a bit of difference -😉-

Well Christian, people are meant to give ideas, if you get annoyed by people saying the same thing, then why be here? I am just saying vB would be a good addition to this forum, it's my opinion, so be it.

And editing someones post to remove something that wasn't against the rules is fairly childish, I was only giving it too Fowler. But, so be it hehe.
