My husband and I are celebrating 32 years of marriage today! I've often gotten asked for advice on how to keep a marriage going for so long and some of my initial tips are
Don't kill each other
Tolerate each other's short comings and faults
You can love a person all you want but if you can't accept that they'll do things you don't like, then you'll fail in the end. I know my husband gets aggravated at me for things and I get aggravated at him. How much are we willing to handle and put forth the effort to continue is what makes us last. There were awful years where I really thought it was the end, but then after that came some great years that we would have missed out if we had given up.
