A slow computer is a boresome thing, especially when the speed reduces in the middle of important work. Such a system hangs up easily, delays while typing or exploring the internet and freezes all the time. To boost the pace and bring the machine back in form, identifying the main reasons behind the issue is very important. Take a look at the most common causes that turn a fast computer into a snail.

Why Your Computer Runs Slow?

A PC slows down because a number of applications ate installed and files are filled when the user surfs the web, play games, plays audio/video, use MS-office and other actions.

The main causes that affect a system’s speed are:

• Unexpected reboots and crashes
• Corrupted, missing, outdated or broken drivers
• Less processing power and available memory
• Unknown or miscellaneous

How to boost the speed?

Increase the performance of the slow computer by following the below given suggestions.

1.
Stop All Unneeded Processes and Programs

End all the applications and processes that are needed. Disable taskbar processes and programs from automatically starting when Windows are loading through these simple steps:

• Go to Start > Run > type in “msconfig” and click ‘OK’
• Close process that you don’t need
• Don’t disable any process if you know nothing about it

2. Shut Down or Restart The Computer

Some programs don’t immediately release memory even after they have been closed. Hence, it is required to shutdown the system and then reboot it. Doing so release all memory space and locations.

3. Empty the Recycle Bin

Emptying the recycle bin regularly is a good approach to ensure none of the unused files occupies any space on the hard drive.

4. Update/Repair Drivers

Buggy drivers such as useless, outdated, corrupted or missing drivers lead to slow PC. With the help of Windows drivers update utility, identify such drivers and update the latest ones and install them on your computer.

5. Uninstall Unused Applications

When applications or games are installed, their files are written in the Windows directory structure. These files occupy space; hence, if any application is not used, it is good to uninstall it.

These 5 easy and effective solutions will speed up your computer, letting you work smoothly and effortlessly 24/7.

If you encounter this prompt "Your system has run out of application memory" on your Mac. Do not worry. Quite simply, you can minimize memory usage and make your computer run fast in the following five areas.

1. Clean up your desktop. A clean and tidy desktop not only allows you to look good and relax but also reduces memory usage.

2. Although the extension of the browser is very helpful for us to use. But sometimes there are some extensions that you won't use for a long time. Why not consider deleting some unnecessary browser extensions at this time? Removing some unused browser extensions can also reduce the use of memory.
3. Delete junk files. When your Mac has been used for a long time, you should find that your Mac has a lot of files that you haven't used for a long time, especially if the large files are especially memory-intensive. There are also old iOS and iTunes backups, cache files and browser caches, duplicate photos and files, and software that hasn't been used for a long time. These are also very memory intensive. To remove these junk files, I suggest you use some Mac cleaning tools. For example, iMyMac's Mac Cleaner. This software can help you clean up quickly and easily.

4. Do not open too many windows at once.

5. Restart the Finder tool. Finding large files with the Finder can take up a lot of memory.

Reducing memory usage is a necessary condition to keep your Mac running smoothly. So keep your Mac computer healthy and remember to clean it up often.

A lazy person could just buy a cleaner like System Mechanic or cCleaner. Well, I won't say "lazy". It's just people who might not want to deal with the hassle of little maintenance things.

Eh, a lot of those tools do a lot bad than good. Macs memory management is excellent, and it goes and uses swap memory if it ever thinks its about to run out of memory. You really don't have to do much in the newer macOS versions. 😛

In the olden days when the pentium computer was the standard here, running slow was a common problem. Those were the days when the defragging was in fashion and cleaning the hard disk of clutter is obligatory. But now I don't think that is an issue anymore. The main problem when it comes to slow access is the internet connection. I have noticed that browsers use a lot of memory particularly the Chrome that it takes time to shut down so I would exit Chrome a minute before I shut down to make it quicker.

Yeah, MacOS is really efficient and optimised IMO, because it's designed for a specific set of hardware. The OS is enough to satisfy me for the prices, and that says something given I dislike Apple
