5 Tips To Turn Those Guests To Members

Did you find this, or is this you?

I actually like all the comments posted, and replying to some of them.

These are very valuable, especially for newer forum admins who have no clue why their brand new forum isn't instantly booming with business.

Great tips!

The first four are pretty self explanatory.. I have to question this one though:
Offer some kind of registration bonus
Guests sometimes will register on forums that offer an incentive. That includes getting a freebie of some sort. Be creative and give out something related to your forum’s subject.

What type of " Registration Bonuses " can you offer guests?

Well, for some forums, members get access to the chat-box, get to take part in different forum events and contests (member of the month/week; SOTW, etc...)

Get access to certain member ONLY boards, little things like that, can draw a guests attention, to see what they might be missing out on.

Thanks hcfwesker. Wrote it myself. 🙂

@Irviding: Another registration bonus example would be the removal of ads. Some forums make it so that if you register, the ads will be removed.

LOL!!! that was actually my main point to make, cause that's how Ads work on my forum, but was saving that for last on my list, and forgot 😀

Thanks for the info, shotgun! When I learn a bit of php, I should try and add a chat feature exclusive only to registered members. -happy-

Well, no lie, this inspired me to FINALLY make a "guests only" Announcement Table for the forum.

It's pretty generic, but gets some important facts across, fast and efficiently.

Really wish I had this up long ago 😀

All good ideas, I also have a guest section on my forum, one place where guests can post they are invited to post and make suggestions and comments, it has proved useful on my previous forum, but the one I have now is fairly new yet

These are good ideas, though to me they seem like common sense. =D

They might seem like common sense to some who might be doing things right, but then again, I still see MANY people doing the opposite.

I don't see the sense in making a Guest Area for guests to post. If you want to post on the site, register.

I'm not fond of "guest sections" either. Explain where I said that in the article?

Same here, the ONLY place guests can post, is when requesting affiliation, which is a sub-board, and has an automatic template that pops up.

@shotgun, i think he might've been referring to Violestar's reply.

Since I have a main website that allows comments (it's running on wordpress), I allow guests to post through there, which is connected directly to my forum.

But yeah, other than that I don't really see the point of guest posting, unless you want to have a board that helps with guest registrations (which you really shouldn't have problems with in the first place).

I like having it so guests can post in the feedback/suggestions/problem forum, so if they are having technical difficulties in registering, they can post there 🙂

Other than that i don't think guests need to be able to post on the forum
