Things have just got worse... We have now broken the most users online total -roll-

If you go down the who online page then you will see alot are Registering accounts (but failing -lol- ) or posting (and failing -lol- ) or logging in (and failing -lol- )
They aren't really he type of people you want on your site -lol-

They are not search bots and they have very different ip's from all over the world like spain, russia, italy, china, czech republic...
These are some one that have been constantly refreshing the index page for the last 15 minutes or so so i have blocked them as they are not doing anything worthwhile

Alot are from PROXAD-ADSL somewhere in the world whether it be france or italy all with different ip ranges.

Refreshing the home page constantly for over 30 minutes is harmful as they are just wasting bandwidth and so on. It caused the bandwidth usage for yesterday to double.
Anyway out of the ones that did navigate away from the index page i don't think they were doing anything useful like some where registering and no account was appearing and posting in forums where guests can't post. I am guessing that if i allowed guest posting or the phpBB3 captcha had been cracked we would have had lots of spam to clean up. I don't believe that 30 ips from a french isp are legitimate and worthwhile to have here. Especially when there was another 60 guests doing the same.

I've seen that on my forum before, they would eventually disappear. It seem someone did heavy advertising giving out the link to the page index and registration. I'll remove the ban IP list now since it could block potential future members who have the same IP address.

Already unblocked them although i was going to leave and leaving with 90 guests and counting wasn't a nice thought. Especially if i came back and there was 200 guests and an email from the host saying i am using too much resources i would have been very annoyed.
