Some are concerned this could lead to a massive earthquake in California, one that is past due. Anyway, is there anyone who thinks it won't happen? How can these places around the ring including California prepare?

Anything can happen. Thanks to previous earthquakes, most modern structures shouldn't have issues if one does happen.

Prepare for the worst; hope for the best. The advent of social media and the affordability of cheap phones has given us tools to help spread the word quicker than ever before. Now, it would be nice to see such devices used for things like this...

The detection systems are also more advanced. There's only so much you can do, really.
