I just got an email today from dot.tk that they've upgraded their free services.

From this day one, instead of having just a redirection URL you're allowed to have full DNS control over your domain as well.

Seems a bit .co.cc to me, but the better thing about it is that they haven't said anything about domains expiring.

So if you have to choose between .co.cc (which is free for 1 year) and .tk (which could be yours forever) I would say to go for .tk 😛

What do you think?

I would still choose having co.cc as it looks cleaner and alot like co.uk.

.tk... what is that like? I would agree with NBK here. Also, cz.cc was the one I was thinking of.

.tk is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Tokelau, a territory of New Zealand located in the South Pacific.

Taken from Wikipedia 😛

I said that because it didn't even have dns support until just recently.

I use .tk but I don't like it that much because its basically a frame around your website. I also find that the redirection can be slow at times.

It wasn't available for free until now. I had all the support of a co.uk or .ie for paid customers.

Neither. When I see a free domain it leaves a kind of unprofessional mark on me. Paid domains (.com, .net, etc) are costing almost nothing these days, and you can host your site anywhere.

Uhmm what lol. .TK is always been free man.

If there is DNS control now I am going to use it when I need a temporary domain. I didn't get the e-mail though.

The DNS control sucks! I'll type in a nameserver and it will say "Invalid Nameserver" WTF

.tk always had nameservers, it was just only for paid people. Besides, if you want a domain, .tk makes you look like you're a noob.

Uh, you really don't understand what this topic is about, do you? They had free URL redirection, but DNS and Nameservers were always for paid customers. They've made DNS available for free now.
