A gaming clan forum

I've been thinking of setting up a forum for gaming clans, and when you get a certain amount of posts you can have your own sub-forum for your clan. I have a section like this on my gaming forum but I'd like to know if people would think it'd work.

So essentially what you want is to basically host a forum for clans themselves?

It could work, you would just need to get some decent sized clans.

I've had experience with this, what happened was; everyone wants to join other people's "clans". It becomes so meaningless, a lot of clans would die & become inactive.

The active ones, would use their forum section as a spam-fest.

To combat this, we had a custom Tournament system developed, which uses clans. But I wanted to dump that term because of that bad experience, so we call it "teams" now instead.

I think it's a horrid idea, but if you can make it work, good luck.

I've actually tried this and at first everyone's interested, but the actual clan forum you make doesn't get used as often as you thought it would. So I actually ended up removing them from my site.
