Ok I've tried everything to get new members onto the forum. The really annoying part is that we get 6-12 million views on our internet tv station and only a handful who watches actually joins. Mainly because 60% who watch our stuff cannot speak English :S

Any ideas how I can gain new members? Like I said before I have tired EVERYTHING so yeah lil' help would be very nice.

Many thanks all!

well, what i did for my old site was if there is anyone i see that seems to have some connection with the topic of my site, i would ask them, eathr from usernames, somthing in their signarute, their own forum. I would also advertise anywhere i can, and get alot of affilates.

I've just started a forum and I don't really know how to get people to join either, I think if you can maybe get a few posts/members going between friends it may help as it at least appears active.

I've been needing to get some affiliates too, and following the links in their signature is a good idea. 🙂

You can probably try to do as many post exchanges as possible, but not so much that it will wreck your fingers and your time.

I think just persistence will do it. If you keep trying at it, eventually you'll grow a lot bigger. ^^ It's really hard to start up at first, but it gets easier and easier as you get more and more members. The hard part is just starting it off!

Then again, my board is really small so maybe you shouldn't listen to me. xD

I thought that too cmm o_o I think it's just to make your forum seem more active so that people that stumble upon it actually want to join. But I am kinda wary of it... still, anything's gonna help. ^_^

From what I've found, the best way to get new members is by having the content on your site in the first place. I'm starting my own forum and at the moment, have few members. It's common sense really that visitors to your forum want to read something and that something has to be a solution to a problem or issue that they may face.

whats the point in doing PEs though, no members will stay...

The point of a post exchange (at least theoretically) is to boost the member count so it's more appealing to join. Obviously they won't really stay, but if a guest sees that a forum has 1,000 members, it looks a lot better than 100 members, doesn't it?
