Ok to some people this might sound stupid but here what i came up with:

Register again on your forum. Make another user and reply to threads as a different person and add a question onto the end of the thread to get other users posting.

This gets higher post counts and more members will join due to a larger more active community 🙂

Hope this helped?

Just to say, I have tryed that before, but it doesn't really help if other members have not seen it.

This was the first thing I heard about when promoting my forum, I have one alternate on my forum which i use sparingly if the activity goes to a halt

I've heard of doing this. I don't know if it helps though, but does make it look at least semi active.

Yeah it's good when starting off. But once your forums active then it's not really needed

That actually isn't a bad idea, its good if you have a forum that is new (like mind).

Hmmmm, Im not a big fan of this method, but, i can see why some people do it, but it does look very unprofessional if its obvious that your doing it.

I see where you're coming from. I for one couldn't do it, cause I can't change the style of my writing. 🙂 People would surely cotton on.

Ha, I did this on one of my old websites, having all the accounts basically being different sterotypes of people. Im sure people cottoned on aswell.

It can work, you just have to be careful though.

I have no need for it though, my members are active enough.

For most forums it isnt needed, but if you only have a few active members it can be a wonderis help. I have yet to try it, or need it, and hopefully I wont -🙂-

I would say this works for brand new forums as it is making the forum look a little bit active and so it looks like there are discussions going on etc. For forums that are well established then it isn't really needed.

I agree with efc, it can be a major help to new forums. And face it, there are times when were all "desperate for activity", you do what you can...

Seems to be lying. Well, it is. However, though, a lot of phony members (one person pretending to be many) might encourage others to join. Anyway, don't say I recommended it.
